Well, a person has only so much time in a day. If their time is spent with "bad" associating how can they also be building up their "good" association in love?
To be dedicated to The God means to do God's will. How can God's will be done if all your time is spent AWAY from God's will?
The worst association (people association) are people who 1. don't listen and 2. if they ever do listen they twist what is heard to fit their plan*.
