For your consideration

I have a theory of why some people WANT to believe in the absence of God.  It might even be genetic.

It has to do with strategy.  The person who can't even imagine the possibility of a superior Person is increasing his rate of success of whatever plan he has devised.  The mind considers a goal and the work needed for it's accomplishment but also considers what might change the field during the work for accomplishing the goal.  If the mind believes there is a  real Person in the sky that knows and cares what we do, then the  mind would have large gaps in the "what if" part.  So to feel in control of every situation the mind learns to eliminate the god factor.  Then the mind is able to see more clearly all the deeds required and the possible difficulties it might encounter.  To the unbeliever's imagination the possible difficulties become fewer with the absence of another conscious, the god conscious present.  So it has been eliminated for imagined success.

And you thought is was because God isn't real.  I'm kidding OK?  Don't be getting all hot under the collar.
Please.
