Sometimes I think Victorian standards may still have their influence over our language. The Bible is not profane. But it certainly is earthy in parts. When Elijah taunted Baal worshippers, he mocked that perhaps their god "has excrement" and needs sit in the privy. I can't quite see him using that refined word. Can you?
