I think the confession that Jesus comes "in" the flesh means in us like a compass for Jesus. Not a realization that Jesus came in the flesh, because even people without faith know that he was a real person.
Jesus isn't in us, but the same will he has can be in us.
Is that what it means?
I know that it works like that for me.
But not believing can become a dead end, so that is what preaching is for.
