Faith without works is dead

What I think it means.

Faith is the "assured expectation"

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast

Matthew 13:19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful

of things "hoped for"

1 Thessalonians 2:19 For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?

The evident "demonstration"

John 12:35 Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going.

John 9:4 As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.

John 20:17 Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"

of reality which is not seen by human minds

Acts 1:7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.

1 Thessalonians 5:1 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,

Job 24:1 "Why does the Almighty not set times for judgment? Why must those who know him look in vain for such days?

1 Corinthians 2:16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

How can faith be dead? Works of faith lead to life.  For the children of God faith leads to everlasting life.  If faith is not leading to life it is dead because dead is the opposite of life.

It is being believed Faith in God means salvation.  People who want a living faith do works to make their faith alive.  But the works that make faith alive are not the works of men.  They are works of light.  We do not know what works are of the light because they unseen "faith...realities UNSEEN."

What would YOU call it?

I'm new to this site but I found your recent post.  I understand your feelings.  I've had many negative encounters with my fellow witnesses.  This is what keeps me going:  first and foremost is Jesus counsel to the first congregations in Revelation.  Remember only 2 out of 7 were doing it right. That tells us that today we can expect to see serious problems in the congregations.  2. People are at various levels of spiritual maturity in the congregation.  I have been in the truth all my life.  I've gone to 48 different congregations (I was married to a rolling stone), some were strong some were weak.  I've learned to watch who I confide in and keep my personal activities to myself (there's always someone who'll misunderstand what you're doing.)  Recently I was attending another congregation during the week because of classes I was attending.  I worked in service with one of the sisters there and happened to mention a documentary I had watched on Netflix about Martin Luther.  She actually approached an elder about my "apostasy" and he agreed with her. Needless to say, I quit visiting that hall.  When you find one hall is affecting your spirituality, go to another, don't stop going.  Remember Eli?  He was not doing right but until he was replaced by Samuel, Jehovah still used him.  The message at the meetings is pure, the deliverers aren't always.  Focus on the message, not the one's delivering it.  I've seen problems go on for a long time, Jehovah will straighten things out eventually. One congregation had problems for years and finally 7 elders were called on the stage and removed in front of the whole congregation. (they were basically doing what Eli was, turning a blind eye to their children's behavior)  Anyway, now that congregation is doing well.  So, to coin an old phrase, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.  Go to the meetings, go in field service, do what you're supposed to do and don't look too closely at your fellow workers.  Hope this helps

Thanks.  I wonder why everyone thinks I left the congregation because they were mean?  Haha?  That is not why I left.  Israel asked for a king like the nations had.  They were warned not to but they did and THEY suffered for it.  We are told Jesus is our Leader.  We  have a warning too.  Psalm 146:3 and  2 Corinthians 1:9 "rely on God, not on ourselves".  I did not leave because I did not see evidence of the Holy Spirit (in four congregations and conventions).  I left because I think Holy Spirit is not present BUT THEY SAY IT IS.  Can you see the difference?  If they did not 1. Say they are the only way of salvation (like the Catholic Church has done btw) 2. Say we must obey men rather than The Spirit of God.  (I believe God's Spirit led me into the congregation.  YOU believe I am wrong to believe the same Spirit led me out.)  3. Shunning is very bad.  It is the wrong way to interpret the scriptures about spiritual cleanness. I am sure because many times it is cruel.  Is love cruel?  So if I am right about the Jehovah's Witness misinterpreting some things how are they different from false religion who misinterprets some things, please?

The message is not pure.  I will give you just one example.  It was the first thing I questioned the wisdom of the JW teaching.  Hebrews 10:25.  The whole time I was associated with the witnesses I kept my contention to myself.  FORSAKE means to abandon.   They teach it means Jehovah is saying miss no meetings if you can help it.  It is not a pure interpretation.  Till the time I walked out on the brothers who said we must obey the Governing Body of men, I was at all the meetings. (most all that I could attend)   It was a rule and I followed it.  But it is not a rule because of what Hebrews 10:25 says.  They twist the scriptures just like everyone else does.  Not pure.   I think it is poison what they are feeding the "great crowd" Revelation 7:9 which really isn't it because Revelation 7:17 says the Lamb will guide them to fountains of waters of life.  Not twisted lies.

The human psych

I have heard people say someone as evil as Hitler was, might be by God considered a person who can be accepted to the place (it is called Heaven) where the faithful ones are.  The faithful ones in my opinion are they that listen to The Heavenly Father to do the will of The Father Yahweh in harmony with the Lord's prayer.  I do not believe it but some people do.

On the other hand  there exists people who do try to be in harmony with The Lord and The Lord's prayer who are considered as nothing by others who believe they themselves are in harmony with The Lord and the Lord's prayer.

Is it my imagination that some things that are said can put a person outside of the group for The Lord's prayer to be accomplished?  But all the very bad things some people do can put them inside, if of course it is God's will?  The possibility seems to be open for entry into the Holy Place (Heaven) for what a person does to another but not for what a person says to another.

I think it's weird.

You wonder how I came to this reaction?

I have been searching for what is called "the body of Christ" 1 Corinthians 12: 12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

And I have found very many but the many have not found me.
